Hi Laura, I’ve just read about your experience with your son whilst on a flight and other situations where you’ve had to endure negative comments from the public. I’m sorry it happens, you want to crawl into a hole, you’d like to scream at them about how you have to cope with everyday life, something they have no concept of. And I’d like to thank you for every word you wrote. I have a 21 year old son with Autism. It’s not been easy but there are all the good times to remember and the hurdles he’s overcome, the result is a happy and confident young man on his way to becoming an independent member of society. I’m not a writer, so could never put into words myself exactly how you explained Autism and how society needs to change to accept everyone and their invisible differences. What you wrote gave me goosebumps, thank you. Ignorance is bliss, but causes pain. Good luck x
