New Roles

I officially retired from traditional education journalism. It’s been an amazing adventure. My fellow writers and editors were patient and kind as I learned how to translate complex ideas for a mainstream audience (and unlearned the academic writing style).

This career gave me access to a diversity of smart, interesting people. Kindergarten teachers, United State Senators, and Ivy League college professors shared their experiences and knowledge with me. I’m beyond grateful for this past decade of enriching conversations.

I’ll never walk away from writing entirely. It’s in my DNA. I will concentrate on merging my writing with my second passion – Education Advocacy.

I’ll continue writing essays and opinion pieces that champion the needs of students with special needs and at-risk students. I’m working on a book draft about autism and education (inquiries from agents and editors are welcome). And I’ll focus on making a difference in my own community to support students.

I’m excited to make this slight career shift and will keep you in the loop about this new adventure.
